Tourism HR Canada is seeking participants for various activities to update our Emerit Certification Programs for Supervisors and for Event Managers.
Who are we looking for?
We are actively recruiting 10 to 15 Supervisors and 10 to 15 Event Managers from different regions across Canada, who have diverse experience and who work in a variety of different sizes and types of environments. We can’t do this without your knowledge and expertise from the field!
What will be expected of you?
Participants are expected to contribute to open discussions and provide information based on their own experiences. Your experience and insight are critical to ensuring that the tools to be developed meet the needs of the tourism industry. All the activities will be conducted by trained facilitators who will guide you through the process.
Which activities can you participate in?
There are various activities for which we are seeking your involvement. Ideally, we would like you to be involved in multiple activities, but if you are only available for one or two, we would still love to have you involved. The activities are as follows:
- Blueprint Meeting (virtual, 3 hours): Provide guidance on the content of the written exam, the format of the performance assessment tool, and the experience requirement to become a certified Supervisor or Event Manager within Canada. This meeting will be scheduled in November and December.
- Exam Review Sessions (virtual, 3 hours): Provide your input and feedback on the exam questions, ensuring they are relevant and reflect current practice in your occupation. A series of meetings will be scheduled in November 2023 through January 2024; you are welcome to participate in as many as you wish depending on your availability.
- One-on-One Interviews (phone or Zoom, 30-60 minutes): Provide examples of real-life situations you have experienced or observed and that can serve as the basis for our writers to create exam questions or scenarios. These interviews will be scheduled according to your availability from November 2023 through February 2024.
- Three-Day In-Person Validation Meeting (location TBD): Review and approve the exam and performance evaluation content as well as set the passmark. This is a dynamic meeting that provides you with great learning and networking opportunities—and is a lot of fun! Flights/mileage, accommodation, and meals are paid for by Tourism HR Canada in exchange for your time and expertise. This meeting is planned for March 2024 for Supervisors and May 2024 for Event Managers.
