As part of our work around the recently launched Make Safe program, Tourism HR Canada is connecting with other organizations offering programming that aims to mitigate—and ultimately eliminate—sexual harassment and other forms of sexual violence in tourism and hospitality workplaces.
SHAPE is a coalition of 20 Ontario community legal clinics providing free public legal education and legal advice to prevent and address workplace sexual harassment. It provides free public legal education to all stakeholders, including workers and employers. SHAPE will provide free legal advice to any worker in Ontario regardless of income or location.
The coalition seeks to reach workers who may not know their rights, such as:
- Precarious workers
- Young workers
- Newcomers and racialized workers
- Women working in male-dominated workplaces
- Vulnerable workers
- Indigenous workers
- Those who identify as 2SLGBTQ+
- Persons with disabilities
- Low-income workers
For employers, SHAPE can customize its training materials to suit each workplace’s unique needs.
