Free eLearning: Navigating Inclusive Tourism Workplaces

Helping You Build IDEAL Workplaces—Inclusive, Diverse, Equitable, Accessible, and Leading

Tourism HR Canada is thrilled to announce the launch of Navigating Inclusive Tourism Workplaces eLearning, a dynamic new skill-building opportunity under the Belong project.

This eight-module online course has been thoughtfully designed to encourage, support, and strengthen inclusion across Canada’s tourism sector, ensuring workplaces are welcoming and accessible to all.

Around 27% of Canadians aged 15 and older—that’s 8 million people—identify as having one or more disabilities, and many are seeking meaningful work opportunities to contribute their skills and build a career. This significant yet underutilized talent pool can bring valuable expertise and perspectives to tourism businesses—but a lack of awareness around accessibility may be causing preventable, easy-to-fix barriers.

Whether you’re on the frontlines, managing a team, or leading an organization, this course will help you:

  • Understand disability and accessibility inclusion in tourism workplaces
  • Identify and address barriers to inclusion
  • Improve accommodation practices
  • Explore remote work opportunities
  • Discuss mental health, mental illness, and substance use disorders
  • Contribute to creating IDEAL workplaces where everyone belongs

Canada aims to achieve full accessibility by 2040, with a roadmap to help promote inclusivity, support economic growth, and create job opportunities. Now is the time for our tourism sector to embark on this journey, not only creating a diverse workforce, but also attracting a more diverse range of visitors.

Navigating Inclusive Tourism Workplaces Highlights:

  • Eight comprehensive, interactive modules tailored to various roles in tourism
  • Real-world examples, practical tools, and workplace resources
  • A Learning Participation Guide for every module
  • Narrated content with transcripts for accessibility
  • Knowledge checks and scenarios to reinforce learning
  • Certificate of Achievement upon completion

Available on the Emerit learning platform, this course is valued at $150, but for a limited time, we’re delighted to offer it completely free of charge.

Take this opportunity to learn, grow, and lead in building inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive.
