The Propel Student Work Placement Program connects tourism employers with post-secondary students looking to complete a paid work-integrated learning opportunity: a co-op placement, an internship, and more.
Over the past year and a half, numerous employers have benefitted from these placements and the related wage subsidies as they sought to recover from the pandemic and ensure they have a skilled team ready to meet the growing influx of travellers.
Among them: Carmen’s Group Inc., a Hamilton, Ontario, hospitality brand that operates several renowned event venues, a nationally recognized boutique hotel, a lively Italian restaurant, a successful catering company, and even a celebrity event division that has raised millions of dollars for charity. Erin Simon, Director of People and Culture, recently shared how the organization ensures a successful work placement and what the benefits are.
