Tourism HR Canada, under its renowned Emerit brand, is proud to announce two programs designed to support and advance the careers of event professionals: Event Management eLearning and Event Manager Professional Certification. These innovative programs provide industry-relevant training and recognition to help professionals excel in the dynamic world of event management.

Event Management eLearning: Comprehensive Training for Event Professionals

Event Management eLearning from Emerit delivers the essential skills and knowledge required to thrive as an event management professional in the Canadian tourism sector. The program is based on the Event Coordinator and Event Manager National Occupational Standards, which have been meticulously developed in consultation with industry experts and practitioners. These standards ensure that the training aligns with real-world expectations and industry best practices.

The eLearning program is structured into nine comprehensive modules covering all aspects of event management:

  • Orientation to Event Management
  • Planning an Event
  • Defining Your Market
  • Designing an Event
  • Coordinating Event Services
  • Managing the Event Site
  • Managing Your Event Team
  • Managing Risks and Emergencies
  • Evaluating Your Event

Participants have the flexibility to complete all modules in sequence or focus on specific areas where they seek to enhance their skills. Upon completion of all modules, learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement, validating their commitment to professional growth.

Event Manager Professional Certification: Recognizing Excellence in Event Management

The Event Manager Professional Certification offers a prestigious, nationally recognized credential. Designed for experienced event professionals, this certification demonstrates a candidate’s proficiency, leadership, and ability to manage all aspects of event planning and execution.

Certification candidates undergo a thorough assessment process that evaluates their practical skills and theoretical knowledge, ensuring they meet industry standards. This entails three components, each based on the Event Manager National Occupational Standards: an online, proctored exam; a work history verification; and a performance evaluation.

Candidates who successfully complete all components earn the Certified Tourism Manager (CTM) designation, gaining industry-wide recognition and enhancing their credibility and career prospects.

Tourism HR Canada brings decades of experience to its Emerit training and certification programs, helping to build a skilled, vibrant tourism workforce. Businesses benefit from increased productivity and sales, decreased employee turnover and absenteeism, more repeat customers, and better teamwork and efficiency from their staff.
