Tourism HR Canada is recruiting new board members for the upcoming term, which starts in December 2026. The deadline for nominations is October 1, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
With recent updates to the Tourism HR Canada by-laws, nominations are currently open for up to five Directors. Board positions are open for the following categories:
- Provincial/territorial or regional tourism sector (or related) association
- Educator, researcher, or educational institution
- Worker representative/association or organized labour body
- Other (‘at large’), e.g., provincial/territorial, regional, pan-Canadian, or international business (or related) organization, or special interest group
The Tourism HR Canada Board of Directors provides independent governance by setting strategic leadership, overseeing organizational performance and financial stewardship, ensuring legal and ethical compliance, and acting in the best interests of the organization and its mission.
Board members are expected to serve a three-year term, attend board meetings, and actively participate in at least one committee.
- The Board of Directors meets twice a year. The June meeting is held in person, in Ottawa; the December meeting is virtual. Directors are also invited to the annual Labour Market Forum held in September.
- Directors cover their own costs to attend the June meeting; travel and accommodation costs for the annual Labour Market Forum are covered by Tourism HR Canada.
- Nominees must be 18 or older at the time of their election or appointment.
- Nominees must submit a completed application form along with a cover letter and brief biography or resume.
- Nominees will be reviewed by the Nominations Committee and may be selected for an interview. Successful nominees will be voted onto the Board by our membership at our AGM in December.
