Shape National Standards for Outdoor Guides

Now’s your chance to feed into a national occupational standard for outdoor guide! The Outdoor Council of Canada and Tourism HR Canada are seeking volunteers to participate in a two-hour virtual consultation session at the end of May to validate competencies for this occupation.

(What are competencies? They are the skills, knowledge, abilities, and behaviours required for success in an occupation.)

Tourism HR Canada brings over 30 years’ experience in developing occupational standards for a wide range of tourism roles. We take pride in these standards reflecting the latest industry input—and can’t do this without knowledge and expertise from the field!

Our two organizations are looking for volunteers who have diverse outdoor guiding experience and who work in a variety of different sizes and types of organizations. We need dynamic individuals willing to share experiences and learn through discussions.

In your session, you’ll review and provide feedback on recently developed outdoor guide competencies. The session will be conducted by a trained facilitator who will lead you through the process.
