A Welcoming Workplace
We’re here to find the employers who are ready to open their doors to the future of their business. Around a quarter of working-age adults in Canada have a disability, and they are looking for workplaces that recognize them for who they are and the skills they bring to the table.
Building a workforce where people are proud to belong.
Our goal is to connect you with the future of your business—opening your door to talented people looking for a home. In an industry dedicated to making people feel at home, we celebrate the businesses that take that to heart, removing barriers to create a true sense of belonging for every employee, just as they do for every guest
A competitive advantage worth working for.
When you create a place where everyone belongs, your employees want to stick around, share their skills, and use their talent to turn a workplace they love into something even better. Not every workplace is going to be a fit for every job seeker, but it gets a lot easier to find the talent you’re looking for when you approach candidates with potential in mind, check your assumptions at the door, and ask the right questions.
If you’re ready to embrace people for who they are, take time to find out what approaches and practices work best, and recognize the incredible talent you get in return, let us be your spotlight. We’ll shine a light on the work you’ve done, so every employee can see your potential.
Our commitment to inclusive workplaces.

How to Apply
To make sure every business we accredit meets our benchmarks for workplace disability inclusion, we have a two-step application process designed to work for a wide range of businesses.
Step One: Online Application
The purpose of the online application is to provide concrete, measurable evidence to demonstrate your commitment across three main areas:
- Disability-Inclusive Workplace Policies and Practices
- Disability-Inclusive Attraction, Recruitment, and Hiring
- Training and Education for All
Each category includes examples of acceptable evidence. These examples are meant to illustrate a range of documents and resources that you might want to include—it’s not a checklist. For each document you upload, you’ll have the chance to explain how it demonstrates that your business is meeting each criterion. When assembling your documents, think about the overall story you’re telling about your business and/or leadership.
Narrative:
In addition, you will be asked to provide a narrative description of how the leaders in your organization are promoting an inclusive workplace. This description will serve to illustrate the underlying leadership commitment within your business.
Assessment:
Once you have completed your online application, a trained assessor will review your documentation against the program benchmarks. We may reach out to you for follow-up, clarification, or additional evidence.
Once your application is reviewed, you will receive a notification from Tourism HR Canada regarding the status of your application and, when applicable, an invitation to schedule an online, scenario-based interview.
Step Two: Interview
The interview process serves as confirmation of the online application process and provides another opportunity for you to demonstrate your inclusive mindset and equitable approaches.
The structured interview contains two parts:
Part 1: Confirmation of Your Online Application.
The interviewer will ask probing questions to gather additional information, clarification, or context regarding specific evidence provided in your online application.
Part 2: Scenario.
Through a guided interview, you will rely on your skills, knowledge, and attitudes to explain how you would work through two scenarios provided by your interviewer. We will assess both your online application and your interview against our program benchmarks and, regardless of outcome, provide you with:
- Feedback on your strengths and opportunities for improvement
- Suggested resources to support your journey toward disability inclusion in your workplace
If your business meets our standard of support, we will grant you a Nationally Recognized Pro-Abilities Employer designation.
